35

anne_patterson-thumb-260xauto-395‘You cannot tolerate vipers in your bosom without getting bitten,’ Ambassador Patterson said. ‘Our concern is whether Pakistan really controls its territory. There are people who do not threaten Pakistan but who are extremely important to us.’’

After controlled media leaks about US concerns of a Taliban ‘safe-haven’ in Quetta, the US Ambassador in Pakistan has come out and spoken to the media about it. Instead of a denial of reports that the US might attack the provincial capital of Baluchistan with drones, she says the US will have to do what it has to do to take out terrorists. (more…)

Saudi’s will let Israel bomb Iran

539wThe Daily Express of the United Kingdom carries a report dated September 2007 claiming that the Saudi’s will allow Israel to fly over Saudi Arabia to bomb Iranian Nuclear installations.

Not surprisingly, the Western media and Israeli officials had explicitly said that a few Arab countries supported Israel in the Israel-Hezbollah stand-off of 2006 to have the Hezbollah and its influence in the Muslim world eliminated once and for all. That, however, was not to be the case as history witnessed a small force outsmart and bash one of the strongest and advanced armies of the world. (more…)

Pakistan, A Popular Outsourcing Destination

The article appeared in the “Business Week” magazine on the 4th of June, written by Rachael King. The article, and the comments that follow up the online edition of this article, highlight the true facts about how Pakistan is and should be a preferred IT outsourcing destination.

Pakistan has become the 20th most attractive outsourcing destination, according to consulting management firm A.T. Kearney. Kearney’s 2009 Global Services Location Index released May 18. Pakistan went from #30 in 2007 to #20 in 2009.In fact, the report says that as a region, the Middle East and North Africa are becoming more attractive in the ever-shifting geography of popular outsourcing places. Both enjoy large, well-educated populations and proximity to Europe. The index ranks the top 50 countries worldwide for locating outsourcing activities including IT services and support, contact centers and back-office support. Both Jordan and Egypt have entered the top 10 locales.

Some have dubbed it as Pakistan’s victory in the first round; some believe it is a major diplomatic edge that Pakistan has gained in the international community while some think that this may be deception tactics being used by India. Whatever one believes, it is clear that India has ‘toned down’ its war rhetoric and unjustified demands all of a sudden.

War is definitely NOT the option, but not responding to dirt being thrown upon the Pakistani nation without justification is not acceptable either. It is good to see the war rhetoric being toned down.

The past week saw a sudden escalation of tensions after India tried to press the pressure paddle on Pakistan. Pakistan responded well, forcing a sudden u-turn in Indian government claims.

In this analysis, let me take you through how it has all shaped up recently.

Divine advantage?

Apparently, India which had succeeded in improving its image in the world as a somewhat sensible country seems to need a few classes on patience and ‘Think before you speak’. Their leaders speaking so obsessively and indecisively seem to be one of those restless people who themselves need leaders to guide them. And we always thought our leaders were the worst.

Though Pakistan has its own set of a variety of problems from inflation in food prices to rising local security concerns, yet we are lucky to have a force that is the seventh largest in the world and has proven itself time and again. Since they are driven by even higher motivation factors than just patriotism; martyrdom is considered a reward by them which makes them much more determined and stronger than other forces in the world. And the best part is that the whole nation stands behind them in support.
