Shah Mehmood Qureshi joining the PTI?
3
Following Imran Khan’s huge public gathering at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, political temperature in the country has been on a constant rise. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, following his resignation/removal from the post of Foreign Minister by the sitting PPP government has been extremely vocal against the sitting government, which he was part of until recently.
News has been making the rounds that me might either join the PML-N or Imran Khan’s PTI.
The Express Tribune is reporting that Shah Mehmood Qureshi has taken his decision and will be formally announcing his affiliation with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a rally this November 27.
The Newspaper has quoted a spokesperson of the PTI in this regard:
A spokesperson for the PTI said that Qureshi had met PTI Chairman Imran Khan before Eidul Azha and is expected to join the party soon.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be resigning from his National Assembly seat before he makes the official announcement. In recent days, several prominent names have been announcing their joining of the PTI including the grandson of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Winds of change are blowing harder as Pakistan braces itself for political activity that has probably NEVER been witnessed before. Will Imran Khan and his flock be able to handle the pressure?
Only time will tell.

The PEACE Act 2009 (Kerry-Lugar Bill)
6The PPP government celebrates the passing of the “Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act” by the USA Congress which would provide an estimated $1.5 billion per year in financial assistance to Pakistan for the next 5 years. The conditions that have been set for the provision of this assistance are, to say the least, humiliating for any patriotic Pakistani.
The conditions associated with this bill constitute most text of the text this bill contains which I took the time to read through in detail.
Let me highlight only a few of the absolutely disappointing clauses that are included as “conditions” for this aid:
to ensure access of United States investigators to individuals suspected of engaging in worldwide proliferation of nuclear materials, as necessary, and restrict such individuals from travel or any other activity that could result in further proliferation;
This is a clear indication that the PPP led government is ready to risk a National Security issue of such importance for a small amount of money. By accepting this assistance, the government intends to agree to give the United States access to nuclear scientist, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, which is absolutely NOT acceptable to the people of Pakistan. National Bloggers Conference, 2009
12April 18th, 2009 marked a major landmark for the Pakistani Blogosphere. The first National Conference held at the Regent Plaza in Karachi is being hailed as the first initiative of its kind in the entire region. The event was hosted by the Sindh IT department and organized by the MQM-PRAC (Professionals Research and Advisory Council).
Sindh Minister for IT, Mr. Raza Haroon, Chief guest Mr. Farooq Sattar and Mr. Cowasjee were amongst the prominent people who attended the conference to witness how blogging has grown and continues to do so in Pakistan.
The event kicked off with lots and lts of appreciation for an 11 year old girl, Umaima Adil, for her certification as the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). This was followed by a welcome speech from Mr. Raza Haroon and then came the speakers -bloggers! It was great listening to all of them.
I had the honour of meeting the IT minister Mr. Raza Haroon, Jehan Ara, Dr. Awab Alvi, Rabia Garib, Batool Habib, SAWJ, Ammar Yasir, Munir Usman, Faizuddin Alim and of course Assad Ullah and Hamza Zafar who had tagged along with me!
And yes I would also like to appreciate the fact that despite the event being organized by the MQM-PRAC, there were no flags around. They truly deserve credit for rising above party-politics and conducting this show wonderfully.
And we, as bloggers, are proud that our efforts and our voices have been recognized by the Government. This is an achievement. A landmark. A historical event.
I was covering the event live via twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/ammar_faheem and was also live blogged here & here
May the Almighty Bless you all.
