The cat fight now begins after Musharraf has resigned from office, despite strong opinion polls sliding in his favour till late last night.

The issues that are going to split or rip the coalition apart are:

  • Who will be the next President?
  • How to restore the Judiciary in the next 72 hours.

Apart from that, most of us are worried about the following:

  • The control of the ISI
  • Integrity of Pakistan
  • Sovereignty of Pakistan
  • Nuclear Arsenal and American/CIA influence over it

I will Insha Allah write in detail on these issues soon. For now, I am disturbed at the very thought that Pakistan is now in the hands of world famous plunderers of the National Exchequer.

Musharraf had to quit, he was left with no other option, but the nation would have loved it if he could have revoked the NRO on his way out.

Story of a nation that never learnt…

Once upon a time in southern Asia, there lived a nation, a nation that struggled for several years and ultimately won independence from their British rulers. They named their independent country, “Pakistan” (Land of the Pure).

Such was the passion and love for their new homeland that they migrated in millions from Hindustan over to Pakistan, sacrificing families, jobs and property. They were settled in refugee camps and temporary arrangements were made for their living until they settled, slowly but with patience and the will to succeed.

There were feudal lords here in the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and the NWFP; many of whom were opposed to the creation of Pakistan. They had no regard for what this nation, who struggled day and night for Pakistan’s independence, felt for what it believed was its homeland.

This nation, from 1947 up to the year 2008, has been marred by instability, disunity, assassinations and provincialism.

Jinnah, the founder of this country, died on the streets because he could never make it to a hospital on time. There was no proper ambulance for him. Its Prime Minister was shot dead in an open address in the city of Rawalpindi. (more…)

The media wanted to use its freedom to the full it found an easy target in a tolerant and democratic-minded military ruler. The last men standing: Iran & Pakistan

Nuclear Pakistan and nuclear Iran; interesting neighbors these. Both countries are in the spotlight. One is in possession of a nuclear arsenal and the other is being accused of having the ‘desire’ to develop them. Although both follow an entirely opposite approach as of now, Iran and Pakistan remain the only two genuine, strong threats to American or Zionist hegemony over the world.

While Iran has been facing international condemnation against its peaceful nuclear programme, Pakistan is quickly gaining international attention too. This obviously could not have happened all of a sudden. A plot was laid, the cast set and the show has now begun. The story is now rapidly unfolding. (more…)
