Regional Isolation for Pakistan?

We have a declared enemy in India on one side of the border – a notorious Afghanistan on the other. We have a friends to our North in China and Iran to our South-West. I have failed to understand why, ever since the present government has assumed control, the government has literally snubbed the Chinese a few times and irritated Iran on multiple counts while trying its best to butter-up Afghanistan and India to become ‘friends’ of Pakistan!

I could not find time to write on several issues that have bothered me – transit trade via Pakistan to Afghanistan being one of them. I could not find time to write how bad I felt when our leaders spent thousands of dollars in an Indian night club in the United States when millions sit homeless in the land of the pure!

This is an issue I want to write about. This is a question my mind is putting up again and again. Are we now headed into complete regional isolation amidst talk of Iran closing the Pak-Iran border? (more…)

Obama’s endorsement of drone attacks

Just as was expected, and just like former President of the USA Bill Clinton did with Iraq, Barrack Hussain Obama has endorsed deadly drone attacks inside Pakistani territory.

This follows the killing of 22 people in a drone attack yesterday on which the Pakistani government, like always, has protested and condemned. We all know how sincere these protests and condemnations are, but that is not the issue for now. (more…)

Obama’s Litmus Test?

It is too early to say whether or not Barrack Hussain Obama’s approach to the Muslim world would be any different to that of the Bush administration. He has made big promises and committed himself to ‘change’, however there isn’t much time left before he actually steps into the White house as President of the United States of America.

The past two months have been difficult for the world. First, it was Mumbai and then barbaric Israeli terrorism in Gaza. Both India and Israel enjoyed full support of the White house and George W. Bush.

It seems as if the Mumbai drama, staged by the Indians and the Israeli’s together, has failed to achieve its objective and Pakistan has come out of it clean. It is interesting to note, however, that once we noticed the dust settling here in South Asia – the Israeli’s launched a full scale war on the Gaza strip. The Indian-Israeli nexus of terror is strong and requires a dedicated column to explain.

Clarification

This clarification is for those who misinterpreted a certain paragraph of my previous post, “How We Support Israel every hour, every Day“, and thought I was against rallies, protests and demonstrations held in this regard.

I would like to clarify that I am in one hundred percent support of rallies and demonstrations held against Israel and all injustice.

By saying:

Our rallies today lack objectivity and direction, there seems to be no clarity of vision and no thought. Emotions alone yield nothing! Yes, it may bring a few glimpses of you on national – and international if you’re lucky – television and the press. But think and think with clarity, enlighten your soul, emancipate your existence and go beyond personalities and self service. It is what you do for the betterment of the world that matters. Not you or your name.

I was actually trying to urge people to focus. Let these protests and demonstrations not become something done for fun.

stop_israeli_terrorWe, Muslims, are estimated at around 1.84 billion in number on the face of this planet. Yet, we are undoubtedly the most oppressed and persecuted of people. Not because we are helpless – but because we refuse to help ourselves. We forgot our religion and its values a long long time back – we limited religion to the mosque and to the mullah! We pray 5 times a day, yet we feel no shame in bribing petty officers.

We, the Muslims, are the largest producers of oil in the world. Yet our fuel is what drives the West and its sophisticated weaponry. The jets that have bombed Afghanistan, Iraq and are now bombing Palestine – yes – it is our fuel they use to blast their heavy jet engines. Shameless, as a word, fails to describe our leadership. We are so strong yet so weak that we can not even ‘threaten’ to suspend oil supplies to the world. We shamelessly continue to provide them with our oil so that they may fly their sophisticated fighter jets over our land, so that they may bomb our women and children, our sisters and brothers.
