Two soldiers martyred as India violates cease-fire
0India has been resorting to unprovoked firing across the Indo-Pak border and the Line of Control for over a week now. In the latest incident, two Pakistani soldiers have embraced martyrdom.
Earlier, the Indian forces violated a cease-fire agreement near Sialkot and then across the LoC.
It is a clear indication of mounting pressure on Pakistan from both sides. One side is at war due to Indian-American sponsored terrorism and the other side faces an enemy hell bent upon resorting to violence to prove its hegemony in the region. (more…)
Jan. 15 – US pressure for today
1
Okay, so I thought of this: we have lots of stories of how the United States is bullying Pakistan almost every single day. I’ve decided to collect them and present them here on a weekly (if not daily) basis. This might also help you find all the related stories at one place rather than looking for them over the internet.
Let me begin with January 15, 2010. Press TV Iran reports “US targets Iran-Pakistan gas deal” by offering its help to Pakistan in securing liquified natural gas supplied should Pakistan abandon the gas pipeline deal.
Allow me to bring to your attention that this deal for Pakistan and for Iran was historic. It ensured supplies of 750 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to Pakistan over a period of 25 years. This will not only help Pakistan overcome its energy voes, it will also give a grat boost to Iran’s financial strength. The US cannot afford both. It cannot afford to see Pakistan coming out of the energy crisis nor can it see Iran secure economic stability.
Afghan-India trade route through Pakistan

Skimming through today’s newspaper I came across a headline saying ‘US presses Pakistan to Open Afghan-India trade route’. It took me back to the 6th of May 2009 when the President of Pakistan (you-know-who) first signed a trade agreement in Washington with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
I recall how it was discussed and mildly debated in the media. It made me think over it again and the implications of opening such a trade-route through the Wagah-Border.
Karbala-e-Karachi!

Every day is Aashoora! Every Land is Karbala! What happened yesterday in Karachi is indeed a testimony of the statement. The blast has claimed more than 43 lives and over 80 people are injured. This of course is the official tally. Reports that I have from un-official sources say the number of people martyred is around 100.
The peaceful procession was the victim of a deadly blast which ripped through the procession at around 4:20 PM. I had left the procession only a little while earlier.
Within minutes, shops and buildings were ablaze. I have to make it a point here, every time Shia’s are targetted in Karachi, attention is always diverted towards such actions of unknown miscreants - the incident forgotten and the blame shifted to ‘angry mobs’ – obviously blaming those who had survived the attack.
NRO void – convicts in trouble!
1
About the National Reconciliation Ordinance, a highly discriminatory, undemocratic and unconstitutional law, I would repeat what many people have been saying since last night when this judgment was announced. The decision to announce that the NRO stands null and void is indeed a historic decision that may very well change the future course of Pakistani politics.
It will be interesting to see how the sitting President of the country and his strongest supporters in the cabinet will deal with this blow having seen the ordinance already defeated (unofficially) in Parliament when strong PPP allies decided not to support the NRO.
