A Leaderless nation: What Next?

With the resignation of President Musharraf who had gained himself a notorious image in Washington for his tough stance on the Pakistani Nuclear program and the functioning of the ISI, Pakistan has effectively been left leaderless. There is political vacuum in the air and the nation anxiously waits for what comes next.
Let us analyze why it happened all so quickly and what the nation should brace itself for. (more…)
The cat fight now begins!
23The cat fight now begins after Musharraf has resigned from office, despite strong opinion polls sliding in his favour till late last night.
The issues that are going to split or rip the coalition apart are:
- Who will be the next President?
- How to restore the Judiciary in the next 72 hours.
Apart from that, most of us are worried about the following:
- The control of the ISI
- Integrity of Pakistan
- Sovereignty of Pakistan
- Nuclear Arsenal and American/CIA influence over it
I will Insha Allah write in detail on these issues soon. For now, I am disturbed at the very thought that Pakistan is now in the hands of world famous plunderers of the National Exchequer.
Musharraf had to quit, he was left with no other option, but the nation would have loved it if he could have revoked the NRO on his way out.
Story of a nation that never learnt…

Once upon a time in southern Asia, there lived a nation, a nation that struggled for several years and ultimately won independence from their British rulers. They named their independent country, “Pakistan” (Land of the Pure).
Such was the passion and love for their new homeland that they migrated in millions from Hindustan over to Pakistan, sacrificing families, jobs and property. They were settled in refugee camps and temporary arrangements were made for their living until they settled, slowly but with patience and the will to succeed.
There were feudal lords here in the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and the NWFP; many of whom were opposed to the creation of Pakistan. They had no regard for what this nation, who struggled day and night for Pakistan’s independence, felt for what it believed was its homeland.
This nation, from 1947 up to the year 2008, has been marred by instability, disunity, assassinations and provincialism.
Jinnah, the founder of this country, died on the streets because he could never make it to a hospital on time. There was no proper ambulance for him. Its Prime Minister was shot dead in an open address in the city of Rawalpindi. (more…)
Telecom round-up: PTCL, Mobilink and Worldcall

It’s raging on, the broadband evolution in Pakistan, especially wireless. With Wateen launching the world’s first country-wide deployment of WiMAX last year, an upcoming WiMAX boom was strongly felt in Pakistan.
And here we are, with Mobilink in line with their wireless broadband offering based on WiMAX. Also, PTCL’s smart tv has been launched this August. I will also be giving you a sneak into the soft-launch of WorldCall’s EVDO.
Have we been damned? The National Reconcilliation Ordinance
6For the attention of the general public, I would like to quote here the exact text of the National Reconciliation Ordinance which was officially promulgated by the President of Pakistan on the 5th of October, 2007.
Here is the NRO which has allowed looters, thieves and plunderers to party on the streets of Islamabad:
