Broadband Price Comparison in Pakistan
4
Okay, I won’t sound like I am doing a review here. We, me and Sibtain, put our heads together to do something in what we believed existed a lot of potential – a Broadband Price Comparison website for the Pakistan market. So it is a little start-up of ours that we expect will serve a gap called SmartChoice.Pk – helping people make informed buying decisions.
We are offering the followings tools and services for consumers:
- Broadband Package details from all Broadband Providers in Pakistan
- Broadband guide, helping people understand how Broadband connections are sold and how they should ideally be making their choices
- Internet Speed Test Tool, to let them know where they stand right now
- Broadband Provider reviews from users
- Custom User Dashboard to manage your reviews and saved packages
- Broadband blog
The idea? Help them make informed decisions in high-involvement purchasing (which includes Broadband).
The Business Model? Well, not everything can be made public but it is more like earning on broadband referrals and advertising.
The portal offers broadband providers the right audience for online advertising and targeting precisely those looking to either switch their current provider and also for new buyers.
We believe that this initiative will help the overall broadband industry grow with our focus on spreading knowledge and the advantages of broadband – it is not that expensive any more in our country.
So whatever segment you find yourself in, a consumer or a provider, please feel free to navigate yourself – right away – to SmartChoice.Pk!
Rain cripples Karachi – 4 die in hospital due to power outage
1
As heavy downpour continues in Karachi while a type this, I have gone through the shocking news of the death of four patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) due to power outage.
I am absolutely outraged, four innocent souls on ventilators, have EXPIRED due to faulty power management in the city. Although, the KESC has categorically denied its role in the outage, the loss of lives inside the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT of a hospital is shocking.
KARACHI: Four patients have died after a power outage at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital.
The hospital administration said that the patients, who were under treatment at their intensive care unit, died when their ventilators stopped working after the power went out.
However, the Karachi Electricity Supply Company has put the responsibility for the outage, and the resultant deaths solely on the hospital administration.
The KESC says that power failure occurred due to a fault within the hospital’s own power supply system.
The doctor in charge of Jinnah Hospital’s Emergency was not available for immediate comment.

The city has been at a standstill all day today. Roads have been flooded with water. All this with a few incidents of people dying due to other rain-related incidents.
Khamoshi Ka Boycott – Rebranding or Cashing in?
6
Telenor launched its youth package, DJuice, a few years back with a catchy tag-line “Its fun to be young!”. On Saturday, I happened to have had the opportunity of attending the launch ceremony of the DJuice “Khamoshi Ka Boycott” campaign, aimed at refreshing the brand image. The event had an awe-inspiring set up and entrance decoration held at the Pearl Continental hotel in Karachi.
As a keen observer of how Telecom companies handle their brand images, I must say I am impressed with this re-launch. Telenor aims at working on and educating the masses through its campaign on small issues that usually are every day hurdles in the progress of our society in general. Unlike the name and what one would immediately think of, Telenor here is proposing individual improvement and self-discipline rather than an Inqilaab or revolution. (more…)

Bombs don’t scare us anymore!
0This is a fact, and this is what I observed last year and again this year in Moharram. Instead of a reduction in the mass public gatherings we have in Moharram to mark the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), I can tell for sure that more and more people have taken to the streets and Imam Bargah’s this year.
Bombs don’t scare us anymore. Bomb’s are for cowards. Cowards like the Taliban, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan. A nexus of evil funded and support by Israel, India and its allies.
We know and understand your conspiracies and if you think you can stop us, well, it has been over 1430 years we have faced oppression and moves to suppress us.
Labbaik Ya Hussain!!
