Every day is Aashoora! Every Land is Karbala! What happened yesterday in Karachi is indeed a testimony of the statement. The blast has claimed more than 43 lives and over 80 people are injured. This of course is the official tally. Reports that I have from un-official sources say the number of people martyred is around 100.

The peaceful procession was the victim of a deadly blast which ripped through the procession at around 4:20 PM. I had left the procession only a little while earlier.

Within minutes, shops and buildings were ablaze. I have to make it a point here, every time Shia’s are targetted in Karachi, attention is always diverted towards such actions of unknown miscreants - the incident forgotten and the blame shifted to ‘angry mobs’ – obviously blaming those who had survived the attack.

I would – explicitly – condemn all those who have tried to put it this way. I condemn the Jamaat-e-Islami in particular for not condemning the blast and trying to link it to past mistakes of the government. The failed Islamic-Political party does not have even the basics of natural courtesy to condemn such a crime! I condemn all those who have not condemned this incident by linking terrorism in general to mistakes of the past! Ye unhi Yazeedio ki paidawar hai jo Saudi Arab ki Na-Paak hukumat paal rahi hai! Falasteenio ka sath nahi de rahi aur ab Yemen pe bambaari kar rahi hai!

My Shia brethren, who were there, proceeded with the procession peacefully. The shops and  buildings have put on fire using ‘Chemicals’ – I witnessed with my own eyes that participants of the Aashoora procession were not even allowed to carry match-boxes and lighters inside.
