FBI confusion over Ajmal Kasab’s Origin

With this first post in the year 2009, I am presenting some good news to the people of Pakistan. The end of the year also marks a total of 1000 comments for this blog.

A 5-member team of the American FBI has been in Pakistan, investigating the Mumbai drama. They visited Fareedkot today, the small village the Indians claim Ajmal Kasab was from.

They found NO proof and hence have declared that Ajmal Kasab has no links to Pakistan. India is facing serious humiliation from the international community over a hysterical response it had staged against Pakistan within minutes after the attack began.

Update:

The Daily Dawn has reported that the interior ministry has officially expressed their point of view that they do not know of any such activity and that it was impossible for the FBI to conduct such a visit to Fareedkot without informing the Pakistan government.

In a carefully crafted statement, however, Richard Kolko of the FBI says:

“The FBI continues to assist Indian authorities with their investigation. We will work with the Indian authorities and our partners to follow leads wherever they may take us.”

When asked if an FBI team had visited Faridkot, Mr Kolko said:

“We are unable to provide details of what is being done. We refer you to Indian authorities or the US State Department for any additional information.”

This appears to be face saving under Indian and US government pressure as all parties concerned have refused to officially accept OR deny the FBI visit.

Various news channels are reporting that the Pakistani government has acknlowged and accepted that Ajmal Kasab is a Pakistan, despite the fact that NO record of his nationality exists in Pakistan’s computerized records at NADRA.
