Pakistan has taken a smarter approach by not inventing the wheel itself, but depend upon China for the quick ramp up on technology front. Al-khalid is result of this effort.
This approach is good as long as Pakistan can rely on China - which I think is pretty good bet to make. Given the inevitable rivalary between India and China, I'm sure China will continue to encourage Pakistan in whatever way it can.
I would, however, still say that the approach that Pakistan has taken does not go well in the long run. If a nation wants to grow stronger, it has to make its fundamental pillars strong. To build such weapon systems, you got to make your educational, technical, scientific and industrial pillars strong. However, it is not an effort that takes years - it takes decades, for sure.
India has taken that approach - self reliance. Mind you, it cannot be achieved quickly. But I can clearly see India is slowly progressing on this path and her rate of success is increasing. Following are examples of India's successes in self-reliance:
1. The missiles India has developed are going with more and more technology upgrades. The recent test of Agni - IV incorporated self developed technologies like laser ring-gyroscope, conical fiber based motors, composite materials etc.
2. Very successful India space program. NASA congratulated ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) for the moon mission. India's PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) has had 18 continuous successful flights. It holds record of placing 15 satellites in orbit using a single rocket.
3. Akaash ground-to-air missile has been ordered in thousands by India Army and Air froces.
4. Arihant - India's own nuclear submrine.
5. Arjun tank beat T-90 in comparative trials.

People should understand that it is NOT easy to develop such complex weapon systems so quickly. But I predict that in this decade and next following indegeneously developed weapon systems would be inducted: Arjun MKII & III, 3 more Arihant class nuclear submarines, LCA, Naval - LCA, Aircraft career, Medium combat aircraft, own jet engine, and many more.
Why? you ask. Because India will start bearing fruits of its hardwork put in last two decades.
I hope peole leave aside hatred and think more rationally around what I'm trying to tell.
Good luck, friends.

Sorry Ammar, but you made a mistake of posting picture of T-80U(D) tank. Al-Khalid is a good tank, but these are not the pictures of that tank.

Either way, India has T-90S tanks (export name of T-90A) which hold the edge over T-80U. T-80U (1985)is on the same technological level as T-90 (1996) with better speed and mobility, but T-90A (1999) has achieved that mobility with the new 1250 bhp diesel engine and has better targeting systems. Still thanks to the design of it's autoloader, T-80U is able to use APFSDS with longer penetrators without modifications to the autoloader, which isn't the case with T-90. I don't know if this problem has been addressed with T-90A.

Our infrastructure is better developed then the indias We have better sources then india. We have a lot of natural resources in balochsitan and sindh.but we are not using them because of these stupid politicians. why dont they creat a silicon valley in pakistan as well. pakistanis are well capable and well educated they can manufecture electronics pakistan just needs to grow up its economy.
rather then its gonna be difficult to defeat india because it is three times bigger then us and have a good economy growth then ours.
Pakistan will have to increase there export and stop taking aid from U.S this is the only way of our victory over indias militarey and its nation.

Whats hilarious in the whole episode is India's so called *tolerant* attittude that it reinforces out time to time by their statements like .. "...the approach to achieve its goals ‘by any means, fair or foul’! While Pakistan was pragmatic in its approach, India was merely pompous." I'll run with the fact that India was pompous but tell them not to insult our focus under the face of pragmatism!! The construction of Al-Khalid shows that there's a very *transparent* boundary for Pakistan to cross and enter the list of "developed countries"!! Long Live PAKISTAN!
