India buckles under pressure
Dec 29th

Some have dubbed it as Pakistan’s victory in the first round; some believe it is a major diplomatic edge that Pakistan has gained in the international community while some think that this may be deception tactics being used by India. Whatever one believes, it is clear that India has ‘toned down’ its war rhetoric and unjustified demands all of a sudden.
War is definitely NOT the option, but not responding to dirt being thrown upon the Pakistani nation without justification is not acceptable either. It is good to see the war rhetoric being toned down.
The past week saw a sudden escalation of tensions after India tried to press the pressure paddle on Pakistan. Pakistan responded well, forcing a sudden u-turn in Indian government claims.
In this analysis, let me take you through how it has all shaped up recently.
Israeli terrorism – nobody to condemn?
Dec 28th
We have witnessed terrorism at its barbaric best in Gaza since yesterday. Israeli terrorism has not even be condemned by the so-called ‘United Nations’ organization, which has proved once again that it is only functioning as an anti-Muslim body.
Israeli F-16 bombers have unleashed their full fury at innocent Palestinians and over 280 civilians have been reported dead (read: martyred). We now hear that after the aerial death and destruction, Israel has prepared its land forces to move into Gaza.
The number of civilian casualties is at least two times the number of casualties that occurred in the Mumbai carnage, yet there is no public outcry. How long will we ignore this hypocrisy of the international community?
Hamas, has vowed to retaliate, saying Israel had violated an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire intended to stem violence in the region.
“We will stand up, we will defend our own people, we will defend our land and we will not give up,” senior spokesman Osama Hamdan said.
The U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Zalmay Khalilzad, blatantly supported Israel’s contention that it was up to Hamas to stop the violence. Such is the absurdity of the international community that helpless civilians are being crushed for NO REASON!
“Israel has the right to self defense and nothing in this press statement should be read as anything but that,” Khalilzad said.
I, on my part, condemn aggression of the Zionist forces and support of the United States of America in the strongest possible terms. May God damn these Zionist forces to hell.
Divine advantage?

Apparently, India which had succeeded in improving its image in the world as a somewhat sensible country seems to need a few classes on patience and ‘Think before you speak’. Their leaders speaking so obsessively and indecisively seem to be one of those restless people who themselves need leaders to guide them. And we always thought our leaders were the worst.
Though Pakistan has its own set of a variety of problems from inflation in food prices to rising local security concerns, yet we are lucky to have a force that is the seventh largest in the world and has proven itself time and again. Since they are driven by even higher motivation factors than just patriotism; martyrdom is considered a reward by them which makes them much more determined and stronger than other forces in the world. And the best part is that the whole nation stands behind them in support.

Pakistan’s Military Advantage: Al-Khalid Tank MBT-2000
Dec 27th
By Ammar Faheem
Saturday, 27th December – 2008
The Al-Khalid tank belongs to the category of Pakistan’s indiginously developed defense equipment which has always been a source of Pride to the Pakistani nation and the Pakistani armed forces. The Al-Khalid is a major achievement of the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT).
The information presented in this column has been collected from various reliable sources of information available on the internet and aims at giving you an insight into Pakistan’s technological supremacy over the Indian military, which is a recognized fact.
The Al-Khalid is a ‘main battle tank’ (MBT) and its development began as far back as in 1988. The design and manufacturing of the tank was a joint effort of Pakistan and China.
Interestingly, the Al-Khalid is lighter and smaller in size compared to tanks of its class found in the west and is based on the Chinese type-90 main battle tank project.
Weighing around 46 tons, the Al-Khalid is easier to transport as compared to other major tanks in use by strong militaries across the world. The tank has a length of 10.07 meters, a width of 3.50 meters and a height of 2.40 meters. The tank can accommodate a crew of three personnel. The tank can easily pass through water obstacles of up to 5 meters deep, thanks to a built in snorkel system.
The Al-Khalid comes with a 125mm smoothbore gun which can also fire certain missiles. It is also equipped with a 7.62mm-coaxial machine gun, a 12.7mm externally-mounted air-defence machine gun that can be fired with the hatch closed, and smoke grenade launchers. More >
Economic Crisis – Only if we hadn’t ignore Jinnah
Dec 25th

While searching for the great Quaid’s speeches on the eve of his birthday I came across this last speech he delivered 2 months before his death. After reading this I understood the real cause of economic crisis we face today, which was well-known to the Quaid-e-Azam on the inauguration of the State Bank of Pakistan.
Quaid-i-Azam’s Speech on the occasion of the Opening Ceremony of The State Bank of Pakistan on 1st July, 1948.
“Mr. Governor, Directors of State Bank, Ladies and Gentlemen.
The opening of the State Bank of Pakistan symbolises the sovereignty of our State in the financial sphere and I am very glad to be here today to perform the opening ceremony. It was not considered feasible to start a Bank of our own simultaneously with the coming into being of Pakistan in August last year. A good deal of preparatory work must precede the inauguration of an institution responsible for such technical and delicate work as note issue and banking. To allow for this preparation, it was provided, under the Pakistan Monetary System and Reserve Bank Order, 1947, that the Reserve Bank of India should continue to be the currency and banking authority of Pakistan till the 30th September, 1948. Later on it was felt that it would be in the best interests of our State if the Reserve Bank of India were relieved of its functions in Pakistan , as early as possible. The State of transfer of these functions to a Pakistan agency was consequently advanced by three months in agreement with the Government of India and the Reserve Bank. It was at the same time decided to establish a Central Bank of Pakistan in preference to any other agency for managing our currency and banking. This decision left very little time for the small band of trained personnel in this field in Pakistan to complete the preliminaries and they have by their untiring effort and hard work completed their task by the due date which is very creditable to them, and I wish to record a note of our appreciation of their labours.
