$100 million for BB’s UN Probe
The Pakistan People’s Party demanded an International investigation after the assassination of former premier, Benazir Bhutto, when they were not in the government. That demand was not fulfilled.
A logical explanation at that time behind this demand was distrust in the previous government. But after taking over the government, all institutions – security and investigations included – fall under the new government. How do they justify it now?
That aside, a news item that left me shocked was that the international probe will cost $100 million to the Pakistani exchequer and Pakistan is willing to take care of all expenses. Our foreign minister, Mr. Shah Mehmood Quraishi assured the UN Secretary General that Pakistan will take care of all expenses.

BB murder probe to cost over $100m
UNITED NATIONS, July 22: Pakistan government has assured the United Nations it will provide all the money needed for an investigation into the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, well-informed sources here told Dawn.
The assurance was conveyed by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi during a meeting with the UN officials on July 10.

A country where the poor has already been pushed to the wall, where food is getting out of his reach, we are going out probing an incident that occurred on our soil, in total disrespect of our national institutions?
This government has already proved itself incapable of handling any sort of crisis, that apart, I’d say the current government is actually responsible for creating a crisis like scenario.
How will we justify the $100 million to the people of Pakistan? This government, which has claimed to be a people’s government, is going out spending lavishly on foreign tours and other things while the common man silently cries at home at the basic commodities of life which have quickly gone beyond his reach!
Never had I seen such an open display of big and expensive cars waving the People’s Party flag, tainted glasses and illegal number plates. This is not a Pakistani government, it is a People’s Party government.
Look at this news report that further adds to the irony:

Guessing game about size of PM’s entourage to US
WASHINGTON, July 21: How many people will Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani bring with him when he visits Washington next week — 35, 70 or 170? But even more important than the numbers was the composition of the delegation once reported in the media.
According to these reports, PPP chairman Asif Zardari was also coming with the prime minister and he had also invited former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to accompany him.
The media reports caused a mini-diplomatic crisis in Washington. US officials were seen asking Pakistani journalists if the reports were true.
They said that if Mr Zardari came with the prime minister, it would create an embarrassing situation for President George W. Bush. Everybody in Washington would know who in the Pakistani delegation has the real power.

What are they doing? Nothing they do is right! Not even the official address to the nation by our Prime Minister was not executed properly.
Fuel prices saw the highest ever price hike at a time when oil prices in the international market are falling. As I write, fuel prices stand at $125 per barrel, $20 less than what they had actually reached, justifying a raise in prices then.
Is the government prepared? Do they even understand the scale of problems at hand? DO they have a plan to tackle the problems?
It appears as if they came into power by the force of a sympathy vote, which was pretty much expected. It is now obvious that they were not prepared to take over the government.
How long will it take? How long will the common man wait for some promised relief? The opposite has happened and the commoner is down on his knees.
Wake up! The probe can be done by Pakistani’s authorities too now, under your command, under your control! Do not make fun of Pakistan’s credibility by taking it out to the UN. The people of Pakistan do not appreciate this, please stop.
Nobody’s listening to you man. Our people are too dumb to realize what is good or bad for them and too dheet to stand up to the oppressor.
