Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday became the first Prime Minister of the country to get a unanimous vote of confidence from the lower house. Opposition benches also voted in his favour as a gesture of goodwill.

Shortly after receiving the unanimous vote, Gilani announced his government’s 100 day policy which contains many populist measures to gain the confidence of the people of Pakistan.

In major moves, the Premier has announced abolishing the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) applicable to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). He has also removed bans on student and trade unions. He also announced that the media regulatory authority (PEMRA) would be brought under the control of the Information Ministry and its law would be changed. More >

How life changes with experiences!

I’ve been through a period of what I would call the most ‘life-changing’ moments of my life. Things that happened around me and the lessons I learnt from people have all made me think a notch above what appears to be life!

About how I’ve changed recently, here are a few points:

  • I give more time to my prayers
  • I study everyday
  • I keep a check on my car regularly
  • I’m pulling myself out of all student activities on campus, slowly but definitely!
  • My Nokia N-Series phone doesn’t attract me anymore, I feel relaxed with my spare Nokia 1110 phone, which gives me a battery life of up to 3 days!
  • One good friend is better than a hundred relatives, but good should mean REAL GOOD!
  • Bank on nobody but Allah! Trust me, you’ll get the guidance you need!
  • There is NOTHING worth more than your peace of mind! And peace you find in maintaining a balance between your world and your religion (Note this down somewhere!).
  • Death is ready to pounce on you, stay ready at ALL TIMES!

Life is beyond what we take life to be. An ideal life strikes the perfect balance among our worldly affairs and our religion.

Just make sure you don’t leave your religion behind in the mosque! It should reflect in everything you do.

I’ll wrap up my (perhaps boring) lecture here, hoping it would help someone out there!

Mother… Lost without you!

True! And very well sung by Sami Yusuf! I listen to this song whenever I miss my mother! Living alone can get tough in Karachi at times. My mother and the rest of my family live in the UAE.

Here’s the Song for the rest of you, do listen to it!
